Search Hints

Order Number

  • For Board Orders use M before numbers /year (ex. M000/10).
  • For Decision Letters use DL before numbers /year (ex. DL000/10).
  • For broad range of results use only the first 3 numbers of a Board Order or Decision Letter (ex. 000) this will return board orders, decision letters and CARB decisions containing that number for each year in the system.

Property Id Number

  • Roll number assigned to properties by the Municipality; Linear Property ID assigned by the Assessment Services branch of Municipal Affairs.  Linear Property includes wells, pipelines, telecommunications & power generation facilities. Roll Numbers or Linear Property IDs are found on the Annual Notice of Assessment.

Free Text

  • "Free Text" provides the ability to search for decisions by words or phrases and is not case sensitive.
  • Make sure all words are spelled correctly.
  • Try different keywords.
  • Try more general keywords.
  • "Free Text" search cannot be used in combination with other search criteria on this page.

Municipality

  • Type the first two or three letters of the city, town or municipal district & then select from the drop down list, example - Edm for Edmonton or Mun for list of municipal districts.
  • Use this search field individually or in combination with other search criteria in this area for a more refined search.

Subject

  • CARB (Composite Assessment Review Board) for decisions pertaining to Multi-Residential, Non-Residential (ex. Warehouses, retail space, shopping centre, etc).
  • Non-CARB for decisions pertaining to other MGB business such as Linear, Annexation, Subdivision, InterMunicipal Disputes.
  • Use this search field individually or in combination with other search criteria in this area for a more refined search.

Type

  • Property type choices for CARB (Multi-Residential, Non-Residential, Office Space etc) or Non-CARB decisions (ex. Linear, Annexation, Subdivision etc)
  • Can only be used in combination with "Subject" search criteria
  • Cannot be searched individually

Issue

  • Can only be used in combination with "Subject" and "Type" search criteria for a more refined search "Issue", for both CARB & Non-Carb, means the matter brought before the Board to decide (ex. high rise assessments, amended assessments, etc).
  • Cannot be searched individually.

Detail

  • Can only be used in combination with "Subject", "Type", and "Issue" for a more refined Search.
  • Provides further filtering criteria related to "Issue" for refined search results, in some instances there will be no choices for “Detail” (ex. Annexation).
  • Cannot be searched individually.

Sub-Detail

  • Can only be used in combination with "Subject", "Type", "Issue" and "Detail" for a more refined search.  If there are no sub-details for “Type” there will be no choices.
  • Provides further filtering related to "Issue" and "Detail" for refined search results, in some instances there will be no choices for “Detail” (ex. Annexation).
  • Cannot be searched individually.
